Apple Eyes iCloud+ Paywall for Siri AI
Apple is making a new version of Siri that can do more things, like talk and help with apps.
Tim Cook said that people who use Siri a lot might have to pay extra to keep using it all the time.
Apple will add new levels to its iCloud+ subscription so you can get more AI help.
The new Siri will come with iOS 27, which is the next version of iPhone software.
Apple hasn’t said how much it will cost or when the new plans will start, but they are still deciding how it will work.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said heavy Siri AI users may need to pay for extra AI capacity via upgraded iCloud+ plans.
The new Siri AI, part of Apple Intelligence, is set to launch with iOS 27 later this year.
Apple plans to offer higher‑tier iCloud+ subscriptions that provide increased AI usage limits, mirroring models from OpenAI and Anthropic.
Current cloud‑based AI features already have daily usage limits, and Apple is exploring paid options to cover server costs.
No pricing or launch dates have been announced yet; Cook said the plans are still under evaluation.
