Mumbai to Get First Public Gymkhana in Fort Area
Imagine a new fun place being built in Mumbai, like a community center, but it is open to everyone!
The government is spending money to create the city's first gymkhana that is open to all citizens.
The gymkhana is replacing an old recreation center for government workers that was not used.
The new gymkhana will have many fun features, like a glass dome and a view of the area, a place to eat, and rooms for activities.
It's being built to give people a place to relax and also attract visitors to the area.
The current sports center used by civic staff will move to a new spot near the racecourse.
BMC has initiated a Rs 33-crore project to build Mumbai's first public gymkhana at Fort.
The project will redevelop the old BMC Krida Bhavan into a five-story structure with a glass dome and viewing deck.
The gymkhana will have a cafeteria, community hall, parking, and indoor recreation facilities.
The goal is to create an inclusive recreational space for all citizens and boost tourism.
The existing sports complex for civic staff will be relocated to Tulasiwadi near the Mahalakshmi racecourse.
