Pistachio Trial Shows Positive Results for Prediabetes Patients
Doctors did a study to see if eating pistachios could help people who have prediabetes.
Prediabetes means blood sugar is a little high.
They split people into two groups: one ate pistachios before meals, the other didn't.
Over a couple of months, they checked things like blood sugar, cholesterol, and weight.
The pistachio group did better; their waist size went down, and their cholesterol got better, along with better glucose control.
These results showed pistachios may help with prediabetes, which is good news!
A clinical trial studied the effects of pistachios on individuals with prediabetes.
120 participants were divided into an intervention group (pistachios) and a control group.
The pistachio group consumed pistachios before meals for 2-3 months.
The pistachio group showed improved health markers including reduced waist circumference and better glucose control.
The findings were published in The Journal of Nutrition.
