Assam Unveils Long-Term Flood Rehabilitation Blueprint, Pledges Model Housing

Every year, heavy rains cause big floods in a part of India called Assam, and many people lose their homes.

This year, the damage was so bad that in some villages, all of the houses were destroyed.

The head of the state government, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, wants to help people rebuild in a better way.

He announced a plan to build new 'model housing' colonies for families once they come back from relief camps.

People from all over helped by donating money, and the relief fund now has Rs 142 crore from about 26,000 donors.

The government will also work with the National Dairy Development Board to give families new cows and build places that process milk.

Engineers are being asked to find permanent ways to stop river erosion along the Dikhow river.

The government also wants to check donations collected by 72 YouTubers to make sure the money really helps flood victims.

It will also thank helpers who worked hard with traditional Assamese scarves called gamosas.

The goal is to help families get their lives back after the floods.
