Jaishankar highlights benefits of legal workforce mobility
Dr S Jaishankar, who is the External Affairs Minister, talked about how important it is for workers to be able to move between countries legally.
He said that when workers move legally, it helps the economy and creates good opportunities.
But when people move illegally, it can cause problems like crime and trafficking.
He explained that there are three main reasons why more people are moving around the world: some countries need more workers, other countries want specific skills, and sometimes people don’t want certain jobs in their own country.
He also said that governments should help workers by giving them the right skills, making formal arrangements for their movement, and ensuring they feel safe and confident when they work abroad.
Dr S Jaishankar emphasized the importance of legal workforce mobility in the global economy.
Illegal movement of workers can lead to crime, trafficking, and political agendas.
Three main forces driving mobility are demography, competitiveness, and social attitudes.
Governments should enable mobility, create formal arrangements, and equip workers with confidence.
Legal mobility has beneficial impacts, while illegal mobility attracts criminal and separatist elements.
