BJP Rebukes Kharge Over Alleged Police Crackdown
Mallikarjun Kharge, a senior Congress leader, said that the Home Minister Amit Shah ordered a harsh police attack on students who marched on July 20.
He said the police used pellet guns and that the Home Ministry approved it.
In the Rajya Sabha, Kharge demanded the minister be held responsible.
BJP and its allies said Kharge was using abusive language and that the allegations were false.
They said the government acted with restraint and that Kharge’s comments were meaningless.
Mallikarjun Kharge accused Home Minister Amit Shah of ordering a brutal police crackdown on students during the July 20 "Chalo Sansad" march.
Kharge claimed the use of pellet guns was approved by the Home Ministry and demanded accountability.
BJP and allies responded, labeling Kharge’s remarks as abusive and baseless, and defended the government’s restraint.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh said Kharge used abusive language and did not discuss the bill.
Ramdas Athawale and Praveen Khandelwal echoed the BJP’s stance, dismissing Kharge’s accusations as meaningless.
