Prosecution Seeks In-Absentia Trial for Wanted 26/11 Accused

Prosecution Seeks In-Absentia Trial for Wanted 26/11 Accused

The prosecution wants the court to continue the 26/11 terror case against people who are not in India.

One of the named wanted accused is Hafiz Saeed.

The request uses a rule in India’s new criminal procedure law.

This rule can allow a trial when someone has been officially declared a proclaimed offender.

The accused would still be given a lawyer to represent them.

That lawyer could question witnesses in court.

The prosecution says it will examine important witnesses again.

The court will decide whether the trial can proceed this way.
