Three mute sisters take tricolour to India's 'silent village'

In a tiny village high up in the mountains of India, three sisters did something very special for their country.

The sisters are Reshma, Parveen, and Saira.

They cannot hear or speak, so they talk with their hands using sign language.

They wanted every home in their village to have an Indian flag, called a tricolour.

They asked their father to bring them cloth, and when he hesitated, they refused to eat until he agreed.

Their father was so proud of how determined they were.

The sisters worked for five days and stitched more than 150 flags.

They gave the flags to their neighbours, and now almost every rooftop in the village has one.

The village is called the 'silent village' because many people there cannot hear or speak.

The villagers say the sisters showed their love for India without saying a single word.
