West Bengal Likely to Add 14,000 Polling Booths
The election officials in West Bengal are planning to add about 14,000 more places to vote (polling booths).
They made a list, but they will finalize the plan after talking to all the political parties on August 29.
The goal is to make sure that each voting place isn't too crowded, with no more than 1,200 voters.
Some places will get many new booths, like South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, and Murshidabad.
Officials will also decide if they need to change the number of booths based on how many people are registered to vote.
West Bengal's election booths are set to increase by approximately 14,000.
The decision follows a draft list prepared by the CEO's office.
Final booth arrangements will be determined after an all-party meeting on August 29.
The Election Commission aims to ensure no booth has over 1,200 voters, leading to reorganizations.
Three districts—South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, and Murshidabad—will see the largest increases in booths.
