Bengaluru Museum Showcases Mythological Supporting Characters
Imagine your favorite superhero movie.
You know the main hero, right?
Well, this museum has a special art show about all the cool characters who help the heroes in Indian stories.
These aren't the main gods or heroes, but their special animal rides, like Vishnu's bird Garuda or Indra's elephant Airavata.
It also includes other helpers, spirits, and even figures like the angel Gabriel.
Many of the artworks are old wooden statues from a long time ago, but there are also paintings and fabric art.
The show wants to shine a light on these important but less-famous characters from Indian tales.
Bengaluru's Museum of Art and Photography (MAP) is featuring an exhibit called "In Celestial Company".
The exhibit focuses on the supporting characters from Indian myths and epics, rather than the main protagonists.
Many of the artworks are 19th and 20th-century wooden sculptures, including depictions of Garuda and Airavata.
The collection also includes paintings, textile art, and figures from other mythologies like the angel Gabriel.
The aim of the exhibit is to bring attention to these often-overlooked figures in mythological narratives.
