Kargil Opens Passport Seva Kendra, Easing Access for Residents
Kargil now has a new centre that helps people with passport services.
It is located in the remote Ladakh region.
The centre opened on September 2, 2026.
Kirti Vardhan Singh and other officials inaugurated it.
Before this, some residents had to travel to Leh or Srinagar for passport work.
The new centre should make these trips less necessary.
People can submit and process passport applications there when the centre is authorized to provide those services.
It may especially help people traveling abroad for pilgrimages, education or jobs.
