Stalin, Vijay Clash Over Assembly Remarks; BRICS Leaders Arrive

MK Stalin and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay argued over remarks made in the state Assembly.

Vijay had spoken about the Emergency-era MISA law.

A hand gesture by Vijay was widely seen as referring to Stalin’s injury during detention.

Vijay later said the gesture was not intentional.

Stalin said the DMK’s history during that period was a matter of record.

He also accused Vijay of using social-media videos to distract from problems in government.

At the same time, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Delhi for a BRICS summit.

Police deployed 30,000 personnel, and PM Modi’s meetings with several leaders were confirmed.
