UK Authors Dominate the Booker Prize 2026 Shortlist

The Booker Prize is an important award for novels written in English and published in the UK or Ireland.

Six writers have been chosen for the 2026 shortlist.

Marlon James and Douglas Stuart have won the prize before.

If either wins again, they could become only the fifth writer to win twice.

The other shortlisted writers are Elizabeth Strout, M. John Harrison, Luke Kennard, and Rebecca Perry.

Their books tell very different kinds of stories, including historical, dystopian, realistic, and funny stories.

M. John Harrison is 81 and could become the oldest Booker Prize winner.

Each shortlisted writer receives £2,500, and the overall winner gets £50,000.

The winner will be announced in London on November 9, 2026.
