Teacher Fraudster Claims Rs 1.05 Crore from Mangaluru Woman
A man named Sirigere Yerriswamy pretended to be a journalist and said he could get a woman a seat in the Karnataka Legislative Council.
He asked her to pay a huge amount of money.
She gave him about Rs 1 crore, but he never gave her the seat.
He also took her to a hotel in New Delhi and behaved badly.
She told the police, and they made a formal complaint.
The police opened a case and are investigating the fraud.
Sirigere Yerriswamy, a 56‑year‑old school teacher, posed as a journalist claiming ties to the Congress party.
He promised a Mangaluru woman a Karnataka Legislative Council seat for Rs 1.05 crore, later reducing the demand to Rs 1.25 crore.
The victim paid Rs 1 crore in August 2024 and an additional Rs 5 lakh in January 2025, all to Yerriswamy’s associates.
Yerriswamy allegedly took her to New Delhi, misbehaved at a hotel, and threatened her if she asked for her money back.
