Tata Motors CV profit jumps 83% as revenue rises

Tata Motors is a company that makes big trucks, buses and delivery vans.

In the first three months of its new financial year, it made a lot more money than it did the year before.

Its profit jumped by 83 percent, helped partly by money from an investment in another company called Tata Capital.

The money it earned from selling vehicles also went up by 19 percent.

But the cost of materials used to make vehicles went up too, which squeezed its profits a little.

To help with this, the company raised the prices of its vehicles a couple of times.

Tata Motors has more than 3,400 orders for electric vehicles, including about 850 to 900 electric buses.

Cities like Chennai, Ahmedabad, Odisha and Hyderabad have ordered these electric buses.

The company is also trying to buy another truck company called Iveco, and hopes that deal will finish in a few months.

The company's boss, Girish Wagh, says rising material costs are still a big challenge they are watching closely.
