Chhattisgarh High Court Grants Bail in Rs 124 Crore GST Fraud Case
The Chhattisgarh High Court has given pre-arrest bail to a freelance accountant named Mohd Farhan.
He is accused of helping with a big tax fraud worth Rs 124 crore.
The court said he doesn't need to be in jail before the trial because the crime isn't very serious, and the evidence is already with the police.
The accountant says he is innocent and was just doing his job.
The government says he is involved in a big scam and should be questioned in jail to find all the details.
The court decided that he can stay free but with some conditions.
Chhattisgarh High Court granted anticipatory bail to Mohd Farhan, a freelance accountant accused of Rs 124 crore GST fraud.
The court noted that custodial interrogation was not necessary as the evidence is already with the investigating agency.
Farhan is accused of creating bogus firms and facilitating fake e-way bills involving transactions worth Rs 821 crore.
The maximum punishment for the alleged offense is five years, which the court deemed not severe enough to warrant pre-trial incarceration.
The state argued that Farhan was obstructing the investigation and custodial interrogation was needed to trace the full chain of the offense.
