AP Council to Probe Woman’s Death After Alleged Abortion

A woman died after an abortion procedure in Andhra Pradesh.

The procedure was allegedly carried out by health staff who received advice from a doctor over the phone.

The Andhra Pradesh Medical Council is now investigating what happened.

Its anti-quackery committee will look for the people involved.

The committee will work with health officials, the district administration and police.

The Council says only properly qualified and licensed medical professionals can perform abortions.

People who practise medicine without the required permission may face legal action.

The Council will decide what to do after the investigation is completed.
