Journalists Allege Assault by Delhi Police; Cops Call Claims Misleading

Two women journalists said Delhi Police officers hurt them after taking them to a police station.

They said they had gone to cover an event and wanted to ask questions of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

The journalists showed marks that they said were injuries in videos shared online.

Police gave a different explanation.

Police said the women had parked a scooter near a protected VVIP road.

Officers said the women would not move it after being asked several times.

Police said they took the women to the station for further questioning because of security rules.

The journalists’ claims had not been independently verified, and they said doctors at AIIMS would examine them.
