IIT Guwahati Develops Gelator Material for Fuel Adulteration Detection and Oil Spill Cleanup
Scientists from IIT Guwahati invented a special material that can find out if petrol has been mixed with kerosene.
This material can also clean up oil spills by turning the oil into a solid that can be easily removed.
They published their work in a science magazine and plan to improve their invention to check for other types of fuel mix-ups too.
Researchers at IIT Guwahati create a novel material to detect kerosene adulteration in petrol
The material can also selectively absorb and solidify oil from water
It addresses the challenge of oil spills and potential fuel adulteration
The findings are published in the journal Chemical Engineering
The team aims to advance the research for detecting various fuel adulterations
