APPCB Urges Eco-Friendly Bhogi Celebrations
The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) has asked everyone to celebrate Bhogi in a way that's good for the environment.
They want people to avoid burning plastics, tyres, rubber, and electronic waste because these things make the air dirty and can make people sick.
Instead, they suggest burning only dry leaves, firewood, or farm waste.
The APPCB has also asked local bodies to make sure that garbage is collected properly and not burned in public places.
They will have special teams to check and make sure everyone follows the rules to keep the air clean and protect people's health.
APPCB issued urgent directions to prevent open burning of solid waste during Bhogi.
Burning hazardous materials like plastics, tyres, rubber, and electronic waste releases toxic emissions harmful to public health.
Municipal bodies directed to prohibit burning of unsegregated waste in public places and conduct public awareness campaigns.
Enforcement teams will monitor vulnerable locations, especially at night and early morning.
Commissioners must ensure strict compliance with Solid Waste Management Rules and Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act.
