Andhra Pradesh Adopts New Fiber Technology for Road Construction
The road building department in Andhra Pradesh is trying a new trick to make roads last longer!
They are using a special kind of strong fiber, like tiny threads, mixed into the road material.
This is like giving the road a superhero cape to fight off holes and cracks that usually appear.
They first tried this in a place called Banaganapalle and are now using it on a bigger road, NH342.
This fiber technology has even been used in famous places like the airport in London and the metro in Dubai!
The goal is to make roads that are strong and don't need fixing all the time, unlike some roads made before.
Andhra Pradesh R&B Department is piloting Danish fiber technology for road construction.
This technology uses aramid and polyolefin fibers to prevent potholes and cracks.
A pilot project began on July 4th in Banaganapalle constituency.
The technology will be first used on the 4-lane NH342 between Puttaparthi and Kodur.
Similar fiber technology has been used in international projects like Heathrow Airport and Dubai Metro.
