Andhra Pradesh to Prepare Unified Act for Universities, Focus on Job-Oriented Curriculum
The education minister of Andhra Pradesh wants to make a new, single rulebook for all the government colleges in the state.
He also thinks that what students learn in college needs to help them get jobs more easily, because right now, many students who finish their studies can't find work.
So, colleges should connect more with companies to help students find jobs after they graduate.
They also need to use new ways to track if students are coming to class, like using their faces to check attendance, and make sure students have good ways to give feedback.
The minister also wants to help more adults learn to read and write and improve the overall quality of education from the very beginning all the way to college.
Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh has called for a Unified Act to streamline the administration of government universities.
The curriculum in higher education will be revamped to be more job-oriented to address unemployment among graduates.
The minister emphasized the need to link Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and universities with industries, and private colleges with the state's Skill Portal for campus placements.
Mandatory face-based attendance systems and robust student feedback mechanisms are to be implemented in colleges and universities.
The state aims to make 25 lakh people literate through the Akshara Andhra programme and is focusing on improving intermediate education pass percentages and vocational training.
