Pune’s transport office worked to make drivers follow traffic rules.

It sent officers out to check for violations.

These officers issued more than 22,000 electronic tickets between April and July.

The office collected ₹8.83 crore in fines.

It had hoped to collect ₹10 crore.

Some of the money came from new tickets.

Much of it also came from old unpaid tickets and other outstanding fines.

Officials said the effort was meant to improve road safety and driver discipline.
