Bengal Chief Minister Demands Apology for Saffron Hooliganism Headline

A newspaper used the phrase “saffron hooliganism” when reporting on a student fight at Jadavpur University.

Saffron is viewed by many Hindus as a religious color.

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the headline was wrong.

He demanded that the newspaper apologize within 24 hours.

He also warned that people wearing saffron might protest.

A spiritual leader filed a police complaint against the newspaper’s editorial team.

The complaint said the headline hurt Hindu religious feelings.

The student clash involved the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Left-affiliated groups.

Several students were injured, and both sides blamed each other for the violence.
