Delhi HC Orders Takedown of Kala Hiran Teaser
The Delhi High Court has ordered the immediate removal of a teaser for the film 'Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legal' and related posts from online platforms.
The court ruled in favor of actor Salman Khan, who argued that the teaser and posts exploit his name, mannerisms, and distinctive attributes without his authorization, damaging his reputation.
The filmmakers, however, contend that the film is not a biopic and does not involve false endorsement or commercial impersonation.
The court observed that using social media to disseminate content that violates personality rights or harms reputation exacerbates the issue.
The makers have been restrained from uploading or disseminating the teaser and other accompanying posts on any platform, including social media, OTT platforms, television, and print media.
The court directed the takedown of existing posts within 24 hours and ordered platforms like X, Meta, and Google to remove the URLs if the uploaders do not comply.
The case is part of Khan's lawsuit to protect his personality rights.
