India Holds 8.52 Million Tonnes of Rare Earth Reserves
India has a lot of special minerals called rare earths, about 8.52 million tonnes.
These are found in different parts of the country, like near the coast and in rocks.
The government is looking for more of these minerals.
India has been sending some rare earths to other countries, but hasn't been buying any from them.
These minerals are important for things like electric cars and renewable energy, so the government is making sure India can get them.
They are also working with other countries to get more of these special minerals.
India has approximately 8.52 million tonnes of rare earth element reserves.
These reserves are found in coastal regions, hard rocks, and inland areas across several states.
The Atomic Minerals Directorate is exploring and augmenting rare earth mineral resources.
India exported 18 tonnes of rare earth minerals in the last decade and did not import any.
The Ministry of Mines is working to ensure supply chain resilience for critical minerals, including rare earths.
