Bangladesh Faces Renewed Fears Over Islamist Militancy Resurgence

Bangladesh has recently found several bombs and bomb-making materials.

One bomb blast reportedly killed a person.

Police have also arrested people connected to militant organizations.

More than 370 people linked to militant activities were granted bail during the period covered by the report.

Some prisoners escaped after a political change in August 2024, and some have not yet been found.

Bomb-like objects were discovered near several metro stations and other places in Dhaka.

Officials are worried that extremist groups could become active again.

The United Nations Security Council said Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent may be trying to build terrorist cells in Bangladesh.
