Khammam Flooded: Munneru River Swells, Officials Assess Damage and Relief Efforts
Heavy rains caused by a cyclone made a river called Munneru swell up a lot.
This flooded parts of a city called Khammam and ruined many farms.
The government said they will give farmers money to help them for the damaged crops, around Rs 10,000 for each acre.
Officials are checking how bad the damage is to homes and farms.
They are also making sure people who had to leave their homes are safe in special centers.
The river's water might start to go down soon, but people in low areas still need to be careful.
A political group also asked the government to give money quickly to farmers and people whose homes were damaged.
Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced Rs 10,000 per acre compensation for farmers and ongoing procurement of paddy and maize.
The Munneru River reached a threatening level of approximately 28 ft due to heavy rains, causing flooding in Khammam city and surrounding areas.
District Collector Anudeep Durishetty is overseeing relief efforts, inspecting rehabilitation centers, and ensuring the safety of evacuated residents.
