Calcutta HC Dismisses Appeal Over CBI Probe in BJP Worker Murders
The Calcutta High Court has said the CBI will investigate the 2019 murders of three BJP workers.
A politician, Sheikh Shajahan, tried to stop this CBI investigation.
The court said that since he is accused, he does not get to pick who investigates.
The original order was for the CBI to investigate, led by a special team, and Shajahan is currently in jail for another case.
Calcutta High Court dismissed Sheikh Shajahan's appeal against a CBI probe.
Shajahan, a suspended TMC leader, challenged the CBI probe into the 2019 murders.
The court ruled that an accused cannot choose the investigating agency.
The CBI was ordered to investigate the murders of three BJP workers in Sandeshkhali.
Shajahan is currently in judicial remand for a separate case involving ED officials.
