NSE Listing Formalizes Exchange’s Role as India’s Growth Proxy

The National Stock Exchange of India has listed its shares through an IPO.

CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan said shareholders had wanted this for about 10 years.

He described the listing as the completion of a formal process.

NSE already had about 2 lakh shareholders before the IPO.

It also already reported results and important events under SEBI rules.

Listing may make it easier for new investors to participate.

Chauhan said private-market transactions had been costly and carried risks.

He said NSE will continue acting as a responsible regulator.

The exchange also earns fees for processing transactions and distributes much of its profit as dividends.
