Bank of England Cuts Rates Amid Inflation Slowdown

The Bank of England decided to lower its interest rate to 3.75%, which is the lowest it's been in almost three years.

They did this because the rate at which prices are going up (called inflation) has been slowing down.

Even though inflation is still higher than they'd like, they think this will help the economy grow.

Some people on the committee that made this decision were worried that cutting the rate might make inflation worse, but others thought it was important to help the economy.

The UK's inflation rate is higher than in other places like Europe and the US.

Lower interest rates can help people and businesses borrow money more cheaply, which might make them spend and invest more.

But it can also make prices go up even more.

So, the bank has to be careful to balance these things.

In the US, inflation also cooled down to 2.7% in November, which is lower than expected.

This might make the US Federal Reserve cut rates in the future.
