Vodafone Idea Adds Users, But Trails Jio and Airtel
Vodafone Idea gained about 506,000 mobile users in August.
This was its seventh month in a row of subscriber growth.
However, Jio and Airtel gained many more users during the same month.
Vodafone Idea now has about 199.57 million mobile subscribers.
Its market share is smaller than those of Jio and Airtel.
Some regions, including Uttar Pradesh (West), saw Vodafone Idea lose users.
The company also had a smaller share of active users than its two major rivals.
The figures come from monthly data released by India’s telecom regulator.
Vodafone Idea added about 506,000 wireless subscribers in August, reaching 199.57 million.
Reliance Jio added 2.40 million users and Bharti Airtel added 2.11 million.
Vodafone Idea’s 15.43% market share remained well below Jio’s 39.31% and Airtel’s 38.01%.
Vodafone Idea lost subscribers in six service areas, including Uttar Pradesh (West), where it fell by about 94,000.
Only 83.84% of Vodafone Idea’s subscribers were active, compared with 99.01% for Airtel and 98.80% for Jio.
