Dealership Fined for Vehicle Ownership Transfer Failure
A man named Ravinder Kumar Khanna exchanged his old car for a new one at a dealership in Chandigarh.
The dealership was supposed to transfer the ownership of the old car to the new buyer, but they didn't do it properly.
Later, the old car got into some legal trouble in Himachal Pradesh, and because the ownership was still in Khanna's name, he got a legal notice.
He complained to the Consumer Commission, which decided that the dealership was responsible and fined them Rs 25,000.
The dealership said they had given all the papers to the new buyer, but the Commission said it was their job to make sure the ownership was transferred.
The car has since been scrapped, so no further action could be taken regarding the ownership.
A Maruti Suzuki dealership was fined Rs 25,000 for failing to transfer vehicle ownership properly.
The original owner, Ravinder Kumar Khanna, received a bailable warrant due to the dealership's negligence.
The dealership claimed they had given all relevant documents to the new buyer but was found responsible by the Commission.
The vehicle in question was later scrapped, preventing any further action on ownership transfer.
The Commission dismissed the complaint against Maruti Suzuki India, holding only the dealership accountable.
