Armory Founder Details India’s Fast Software-Defined Counter-Drone Race

Drones can change their signals, directions, and software very quickly.

This means systems that stop drones must also improve quickly.

Amardeep Singh leads Armory, an Indian defence technology company.

Armory built a portable system called Surge to detect and disrupt drones.

Singh says Surge can detect drones up to five kilometres away and jam them from three kilometres away.

He says the system reached Indian Army trials six months after the idea began.

The company tested it in the field and changed it based on feedback.

Singh says software can help military equipment receive upgrades after it is delivered, but faster development should not lower safety or testing standards.
