Guwahati Railway to become Recycling Hub for Plastic Waste
The Northeast Frontier Railway is making its operations more environmentally friendly.
They are turning the Guwahati railway station into a place that recycles plastic.
They're also teaming up with IIT Guwahati to use bags that break down naturally instead of plastic for blankets and pillows on the trains.
They will start with the Brahmaputra Mail train.
If it goes well, they will expand it to other trains to have a cleaner and greener railway.
Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is developing Guwahati station into a plastic recycling hub.
A tripartite agreement was signed with Assam Pollution Control Board (PCBA) and M/s Kusum Udyog.
NFR partnered with IIT Guwahati for biodegradable bedroll bags in AC coaches.
The pilot project will begin on the Brahmaputra Mail between Kamakhya and New Delhi.
The initiative aims to create a cleaner and greener railway ecosystem.
