Bhitarkanika National Park Conducts Monsoon Bird Census
Imagine a park where lots of birds come every year during the rainy season!
The park officials are counting all the birds.
They send out teams with experts to visit different areas like Mathadiha and Laxmiprasaddiha to find them.
These birds come to nest and breed.
Last year, the census found over a hundred thousand birds of different types.
The park is a good place for these birds because there are not many people around, it's cool, and there is a river nearby.
Bhitarkanika National Park authorities began a three-day census.
The census aims to count residential monsoon birds.
Two teams of ornithologists and wildlife personnel are involved.
The count includes areas inside and outside the national park.
Over a dozen species of birds congregate for nesting.
