Hyderabad Kirana Merchants Association Reaffirms Clean Trade Commitment
In the city of Hyderabad, there are many small grocery shops called kirana stores.
The owners of these shops belong to a big group called the Hyderabad Kirana Merchants Association.
Recently, the group held an important meeting to talk about food safety.
The government has been checking shops to make sure the food they sell is safe.
The shop owners promised they will never mix bad ingredients into food or add harmful colors to make it look better.
They also promised not to put wrong labels on food packages.
If any shop owner is caught doing these bad things, they will be removed from the group.
The owners were reminded to keep their shops clean and follow all food safety rules.
The group thanked the food safety officers for helping them learn the rules.
Their big promise is to make sure people get safe, genuine, and healthy food from their shops.
The Hyderabad Kirana Merchants Association (THKMA) held an Emergency General Body Meeting to discuss recent food safety enforcement actions and FSSAI compliance.
The association unanimously reiterated its opposition to food adulteration, polishing, artificial colouring of raw materials, misbranding, and other unethical or illegal trade practices.
THKMA stated it will never support or protect any individual engaged in such activities, which it said violate the law and damage consumer trust.
Members found guilty by competent authorities of such practices will face strict disciplinary action, including termination of membership from the association.
THKMA thanked H-FAST, FSSAI, and the Food Safety Officers of GHMC and assured full cooperation in promoting safe, ethical, and law-compliant food trade.
