Pat Cummins Backs Captains’ Plea for Imran Khan’s Care
Pat Cummins is the captain of Australia’s cricket team.
He supported former cricket captains who want Imran Khan to receive proper care in prison.
Imran Khan once captained Pakistan and later became its prime minister.
The former captains are worried about reports that Khan is unwell and has trouble seeing with his right eye.
They want a court-directed group of doctors to examine him properly.
They also want Khan’s family to be allowed to visit him every week.
Some reports say a government medical team examined Khan and declared him medically fit.
Khan’s family and supporters say the examination did not follow the process ordered by Pakistan’s Supreme Court.
The reports also disagree about which hospital Khan was supposed to visit and how many captains signed the appeal.
Australia captain Pat Cummins endorsed former international captains’ appeal for Imran Khan’s dignified treatment.
The petition asks Pakistan to complete a Supreme Court-directed medical assessment involving Khan’s personal doctors and sister.
Signatories also seek uninterrupted weekly family visits and treatment based on medical recommendations.
Greg Chappell cited reports of Khan’s right-eye problems, physical decline and prolonged isolation.
Reports differ over the number of signatories, hospital involved and whether the required medical process was completed.
