Maharashtra FDA Suspends Licences Amid Mumbai Food Safety Violations

Maharashtra’s food safety department inspected several food businesses.

It said some businesses were not following important cleanliness and safety rules.

One company at Royal Palms had problems with storage, hand-washing, ventilation and pest control.

A Malad eatery was reportedly found storing samosas near a dirty drain and stagnant water.

Officials also said the eatery used unfiltered water and had food without proper labels or expiry dates.

Many of its food workers reportedly did not have required medical certificates.

The FDA suspended licences and ordered the affected businesses to stop certain operations.

The reports do not include responses from the businesses.
