Bangladesh Dengue Outbreak Intensifies as Hospitals Face Record Daily Admissions

Dengue is a disease spread by mosquitoes, and it is spreading quickly in Bangladesh.

In one day, 1,558 people needed hospital care and four people died.

Altogether, 42,590 people have been hospitalised and 117 have died this year.

Doctors say the outbreak may get worse during September.

Some hospitals do not have enough beds for all the sick people.

Dengue can become dangerous even after a fever goes away.

The disease is now being reported in every district of Bangladesh.

The government is asking communities to remove standing water where mosquitoes breed.

Experts say spraying alone will not solve the problem unless breeding places are also removed.
