Pemmasani Urges Taking Art Beyond Galleries, Inaugurates Amaravati Art Street
Some important leaders in India helped open a big art show in a city called Guntur.
The show is called Amaravati Art Street and lasts for two days.
Almost 800 artists came to show their paintings, crafts, and puppets.
One of the leaders, Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, gave a speech.
He said art should not be kept only inside museums and galleries.
He said everyone should get the chance to see and enjoy art.
He explained that art is like a big diary that records history and culture.
He reminded people that humans drew on rocks even before they had writing.
The show includes special paintings and crafts made in Andhra Pradesh.
The leaders hope people will visit, meet the artists, and love the art.
Union minister Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar inaugurated the two-day Amaravati Chitrakala Veedhi (Amaravati Art Street) in Guntur on Saturday.
He called for taking art beyond gallery walls, describing it as a lasting record of culture and history.
Nearly 800 artists are participating, up from around 500 at a similar event in Rajamahendravaram last year.
The exhibition features Amaravati sculpture, Kalamkari, Srikalahasti paintings, Kondapalli art, leather puppetry, Lepakshi traditions, and folk and tribal art.
Tourism and culture minister Kandula Durgesh said the coalition government plans to hold the event annually at different locations across Andhra Pradesh.
