Codeine Cough Syrup Kingpin Arrested in Kanpur
A man named Vinod Agrawal was arrested in Haryana for running a big illegal business selling codeine cough syrup and other drugs.
He was selling these drugs to many companies across different states.
The police found out that he was not keeping proper records and was using fake companies to hide his illegal activities.
They have recovered a lot of the illegal syrup but are still looking for more.
The police are also trying to find other people involved in this illegal business, including Agrawal's son.
They are going to ask the court to keep Agrawal in custody so they can find more evidence and recover the remaining stock.
Vinod Agrawal was arrested for running an inter-state network involved in the illegal trade of codeine-based cough syrup and narcotic drugs.
He was supplying codeine-based cough syrup to over 350 firms across multiple states, with an estimated 20 lakh bottles illegally circulated.
Police have recovered 11.5 lakh bottles, while 8.5 lakh bottles are yet to be traced.
Agrawal was involved in illegal procurement, storage, and sale of narcotic drugs, inter-state trafficking, fabrication of documents, and obstruction of official duty.
Eight criminal cases have been registered, and raids are underway to apprehend other accused, including Agrawal's son.
