Xi Jinping Likely to Skip October ASEAN Summit
It looks like China's leader, Xi Jinping, probably won't go to a big meeting of Asian leaders in October.
This is a bit of a surprise because some people thought he might meet up with Donald Trump there.
The meeting is for countries in Southeast Asia.
Instead of Xi, China will likely send their Premier Li Qiang.
Trump has said he might meet Xi later this year if they can agree on some trade deals.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is unlikely to attend the ASEAN leaders' summit in October.
This news has dashed expectations of a potential meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim previously stated both Xi and Trump were expected.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang is expected to represent China at the summit instead.
The ASEAN summit is scheduled for October 26-28 in Kuala Lumpur.
