Albania battles blazes, Hungary curbs power as Europe feels heat

This story is about a very hot summer in Europe, called a heatwave.

A heatwave is when the weather stays extremely hot for many days.

The hot weather dries up rivers and makes nature very dry.

In Hungary, the Danube river became so low that the country's nuclear power plant had to mostly stop working.

That is because nuclear plants use river water to cool their machines.

People in Hungary were asked to use less electricity to help the power grid.

The dry weather also caused wildfires to start in Albania and Greece.

Hundreds of firefighters worked to stop the fires from reaching homes and farms.

The heat also makes it hard for farmers to grow food, so Britain's cereal harvest is expected to be very bad this year.

The heat even made Pope Leo move his weekly audience indoors.
