H Vinoth confirms Jana Nayagan is a remake

Director H Vinoth has confirmed that the upcoming Tamil film Jana Nayagan is a remake of the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari.

He mentioned that about half of the original film's content has been retained, while the rest has been reworked to fit Vijay's screen persona and Tamil audience sensibilities.

Vinoth initially had second thoughts about doing another remake but agreed to it as his last opportunity to work with Vijay before the actor's full-time entry into politics.

The remake process involved adapting the story to fit Vijay's universe and making changes to suit Tamil commercial cinema sensibilities.

Vijay was deeply invested in the decision to remake the film, and both he and Vinoth share a strong personal investment in women empowerment as a theme.
