Kangra Bans Trekking Above 3,000 Meters
The Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh has said that people cannot go trekking on mountains higher than 3,000 meters.
This is to keep tourists safe.
Special permission is needed to trek on certain popular routes like Kareri, Triund, and Adi Himani Chamunda.
If the weather department warns about bad weather, all permissions will be cancelled.
Some special teams that help in emergencies are allowed to go trekking.
Last week, four trekkers who got lost were rescued by the police.
The tourism office will tell all tourists about these new rules.
Kangra district administration has banned all trekking activities above 3,000 meters.
Prior permission from the Superintendent of Police is mandatory for trekking on Kareri, Triund, and Adi Himani Chamunda routes.
All prior permissions will be cancelled if a weather alert is issued by the Meteorological department.
Agencies involved in disaster management are exempted from the ban.
The District Tourism Officer will inform all tourists about the restrictions.
