Divine's New Album Struggles to Maintain Rap Dominance
Divine is a famous rapper from Mumbai who has been a big name in Indian hip-hop for over ten years.
He has released a new album called Walking On Water, but it's not as good as his earlier work.
The album has some good parts, like fun beats and catchy songs, but overall, it feels like Divine is trying too hard to be the same tough rapper he was when he started.
He's not as hungry as he used to be, and he's not really trying new things.
Other younger rappers are making fresh and exciting music, and Divine's album doesn't quite keep up.
It's like he's stuck in the past and can't quite figure out how to move forward.
Divine, a veteran Mumbai rapper, has released his fifth studio album, Walking On Water, which fails to recapture his past glory.
The album features a mix of old-school braggadocio and attempts at more melodic, commercial sounds, with varying success.
While the production is top-notch and some features shine, Divine's lyrics often fall back on tired flexes and self-mythologizing.
Divine struggles to balance his established gully gangster persona with attempts at reinvention, resulting in a lack of evolution in his flow and lyrical content.
The Indian hip-hop scene is evolving with newer artists pushing boundaries, while Divine's album feels trapped by his own legacy and the pressure to maintain his status.
