India Promotes Sailing with International Regatta
The Indian government is working hard to make sailing more popular, especially since it's an Olympic sport.
They started a big sailing event called the India International Regatta in Chennai.
The event is happening in the Chennai Port and along Marina Beach.
Lots of young sailors from different countries are taking part.
The government is also giving money to a club to teach sailing to students.
The event helps people learn about the sea and makes Chennai more known for sports.
The minister said that India's ports have gotten much better in the last few years.
India's Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off the 11th India International Regatta in Chennai to promote sailing.
The event is organized by the Yachting Association of India (YAI), Asian Sailing Federation (ASAF), and Tamil Nadu Sailing Association (TNSA).
117 youth sailors from 13 nations are participating in the week-long regatta held in Chennai Port waters and Marina Beach frontage.
