Sitharaman Lays Stone for ₹1 Lakh Crore Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub
Nirmala Sitharaman announced a large horticulture project in Rayalaseema.
The project is expected to cost ₹1 lakh crore.
Horticulture means growing fruits, vegetables and other plants.
The government also wants farmers to be able to buy urea at a fair price.
Officials were told not to sell a bag of urea for more than ₹300.
Biogas systems and solar-powered pumps are also being planned or provided.
Farmers may receive help through crop insurance and other schemes.
The government also plans to provide animal doctors and mobile animal hospitals in every district.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman laid the foundation stone for a Rayalaseema horticulture hub.
The hub is planned to be developed at a cost of ₹1 lakh crore.
Sitharaman said officials were instructed to prevent urea from being sold above ₹300 a bag.
Biogas systems and solar pumps are being established through the Gobar-Dhan, Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM schemes.
Plans include farmer insurance, support for fishermen and livestock farmers, and veterinary services in every district.
