Jabalpur MLA Raises Alarm on Child Internet Addiction
A leader in Jabalpur, India, named Abhilash Pandey, is very worried about how much time kids and teenagers spend on mobile phones and the internet.
He thinks this is a big problem that needs to be fixed right away.
He wants the government to start teaching people about the dangers of too much screen time and maybe even make new rules to help.
He says kids are not eating without looking at their phones, and this is making them sick, especially with problems like short-sightedness.
He also mentioned that many kids are not playing outside anymore and are feeling lonely and sad.
He wants families to make some places at home where phones are not allowed, just like the Prime Minister suggested.
Jabalpur MLA Abhilash Pandey urged the MP government to take immediate action against mobile and internet addiction among children and teens.
He proposed statewide awareness campaigns, strict advisories, potential laws, and joint awareness programs through schools and families.
Pandey highlighted that many children do not eat without watching a mobile screen, leading to health concerns like myopia.
An AIIMS report showed a sharp rise in myopia cases among children, with Delhi seeing an increase from 7% in 2001 to 21% in 2021.
He warned that 87% of Indians use gadgets and 83% of children aged 10–14 use mobile phones, higher than the global average of 76%.
